The new comedy-drama Concessions, featuring one of Michael Madsen's upcoming screen performances, has made its U.S. premiere at the prestigious Woodstock Film Festival. The film, which has also screened internationally, is a poignant and humorous look at the end of a small, independent movie theater.

Set entirely in Albany, New York, Concessions chronicles the final day of the fictional Royal Alamo Cinema, following the intersecting stories of its staff and patrons as they face a future without their beloved local cinema.
Michael Madsen is featured as Rex Fuel, an aging stunt actor who visits the closing theater to charm his way into seeing one of the last films being shown—a movie he worked on. His character embodies a wonderful weariness, representing a nostalgic nod to a bygone era of Hollywood and the communal moviegoing experience.
The opportunity to work with Michael Madsen on this project was a significant highlight for the production. The esteemed actor brought his signature charisma and powerful screen presence to the independent film, cementing his status as a legendary "tough guy actor" who was always completely at ease in front of the camera. His involvement was a massive win for the project, which was one of the few permitted to film during the SAG-AFTRA strike due to its independent status.
Concessions, which was directed by Albany-raised filmmaker Mas Bouzidi, is an affectionate and wistful ode to the magic of theatrical exhibition. While it addresses the contemporary shift to streaming, it ultimately celebrates the unique impact a local movie house can have on a community.

The film has been screening at the Woodstock Film Festival, with hope for a wider release that will allow more fans to see Michael Madsen's remarkable work in what will stand as one of his last enduring performances.
